Paul Smith Women Autumn Winter Collection 2012

Paul Smith was managing his first boutique in Nottingham and with the encouragement of his girlfriend Pauline Denyer (now wife) and a small amount of savings, opened a tiny shop in 1970. Paul started to take evening classes for tailoring and with the help of Pauline (an RCA fashion graduate), Paul was able to create what he wanted. By 1976 Paul showed his first menswear collection in Paris under the Paul Smith label.Within 20 years of his introduction to fashion Paul Smith had established himself as the pre-eminent British designer. Paul Smith has the ability to anticipate, and even spark off trends not only fashion but in the wider context of popular culture. He manages to transmit a genuine sense of humour and mischief mixed with his love of tradition and the classics.Today there are 12 different collections; Paul Smith, Paul Smith Women, PS by Paul Smith, Paul Smith Jeans, Paul Smith London, R.Newbold (Japan only),

Paul Smith Menswear Summer Spring Collection 2012

For Spring Summer 2012 the mainline collection has a minimal and classic aesthetic, drawing inspiration from traditional workwear but reinterpreted to create modern, elegant shapes.
The colour palette is inspired by a singular colour, navy blue, and is complimented by brief shades of terracotta, coral and various shades of grey. Prints are bright, bold and graphic.
The silhouette is sharp; workwear inspired box shaped jackets with neat shoulders are seen alongside short, slim workers’ smocks with extreme drop shoulders. The traditional interior detailing of work jackets has been brought to the exterior. Collars are either removed or stitched down and when combined with large patch pockets, create a distinctly utilitarian sensibility to the collection.

Paul Smith Men’s Valentine Hearts Handkerchief

Paul Smith designs a beautiful little accent piece, a men’s handkerchief with an assortment of Valentine hearts on it. A true gentleman lets a bit of color and eccentricity show through, and this kercheif does just that, with an assortment of cream colored painted hearts, followed by a single pink one. A flash of color; something that stands out; that’s what you should endeavour to be. Available online now at price of £26.00.

Paul Smith Skull Cufflinks

Paul Smith take a liberal approach to these cuff links as they feature a two-tone skull motif. Cast in nickel plated brass, the split design is distinguished by both black and white crystals with a matte black design. Undoubtedly the use of the matte black takes a great deal of the edge off the cuff links themselves had they been fully cast in white stones. Available now through Provocacao.

Biroun Vand for Dedicate Magazine Editorial

You’re looking at the most recent editorial from French fashion publication Dedicate. The photographic piece was shot by Peiman Biroun Vand, who captured models Clinton Weber and Nicolas Ripoll sporting an array of European styles. A selection of rugged, outdoor looks are displayed across a variety of situations where only the most durable of apparel will do. Styled by Nicholas Galletti, the labels showcased include Paul Smith, Pringle of Scotland, Henrik Vibskov, Berhard Willhelm and many more.

GQ Japan: The Letter from him by Paul Smith

A mostly subdued palette of colors, the outfits are slim and well-tailored with some quality traditional materials. The feature was photographed by Masaya Takagi with modeling from Douglas Neitzke.

Paul Smith Jeans 2010 Fall/Winter Collection

As modelled by Yuri Pleskun, here’s a look at the latest lookbook from the Paul Smith Jeans line, showcasing the sub-brand’s 2010 Fall/Winter collection. Opting for a seasonal and snowy shoot, this selection of previews highlights the English brand’s use of simple layering. The styling here is smart; the lookbook is able to display standout looks despite its simplistic use of colors and classic cuts. Whilst obviously aiming for the middle ground, the collection has enough simple flair to appeal to a more fashion conscious audience.
Releases should be underway and will continue over the next few weeks.

Paul Smith Brunswick Brogue

Paul Smith Brunswick Brogue 01 Paul Smith Brunswick Brogue

Paul Smith gives us a functional take on the brogue with the Brunswick, a black, distressed model with an eye towards the walking man. The familiar brogue shape is here, but instead of stiff leather, Paul Smith uses a soft, distressed black leather. The soles are rubber rather than heavy wood, and all these cheanges mean this shoe is easy on the feet after a long day pounding the pavement. Available direct from Paul Smith.

Paul Smith Jeans Northern Light T-Shirt

Selectism - Paul Smith Jeans Northern Light T-Shirt

Paul Smith takes some risks by shifting through old closets filled with these classic haze shirts from decades past. For some reason, this is done well, though, not for everyone. I love the owl hidden in the sky. I can hear Eugene singing Journey right now. Goodhood has them.

Paul Smith Epsom Coat - Quality wool from the British Collection
