Mickey Mouse fashion trend

We all recall our friendship with that large eared character from our younger days. Because not only was he thoroughly entertaining to that tiny six year old, but he was everything that that time stood for; innocence, all round goodness and some great T.V.

The icon that is Mickey Mouse debuted alongside Minnie Mouse in 1928. Fast forward to 2010 and his unchanged face is still in our hearts...

It's hard to say where the fascination started but it happened and before you knew it, Mickey had returned in the form of fashion statements, accessories in big budget music videos and landed in some of your favorite high-street stores. Of course it all started when Lady Gaga appeared in her popular video for  'paparazzi' wearing the Jeremy Scott glasses. These are the same ones that would later be worn by Beyoncé in their 'telephone' video. It didn't take long before Rihanna followed suit with her newer tough-girl image and her own set of ears.

As modelled by Yuri Pleskun, here’s a look at the latest lookbook from the Paul Smith Jeans line, showcasing the sub-brand’s 2010 Fall/Winter collection. Opting for a seasonal and snowy shoot, this selection of previews highlights the English brand’s use of simple layering. The styling here is smart; the lookbook is able to display standout looks despite its simplistic use of colors and classic cuts. Whilst obviously aiming for the middle ground, the collection has enough simple flair to appeal to a more fashion conscious audience.
Releases should be underway and will continue over the next few weeks.

Louis Vuitton City Guide 2011 – New York, The Big Apple

Directed by Romain Chassaing in promotion of Louis Vuiton’s New York City Guide for 2011, the brand attempt to solve the mystery of New York’s “Big Apple” title. The fashion house explores some of the history of the city and theories on its name, as well as the role of “apples” in New York. Cleverly turning the story into store references and local knowledge, the eclectic piece is short and lighthearted. Expect the complete New York City guide to launch on October 15.

BEAMS x BUZZ RICKSON 2010-11 Fall/Winter “Modern Aviator” Collection

BEAMS and TOYO ENTERPRISE’s BUZZ RICKSON label link up to create a new capsule for the 2010-11 fall/winter season titled, “Modern Aviator”. Based on BUZZ RICKSON’s stellar reproductions, the aviation inspired range re-creates a number of staple outerwear pieces from both pre and post World War II eras. Included is the “Souvenir Jacket”, the L-2 U.S. worn by the Air Force, the B-10 worn by the U.S. Army Air Force, the B-15C (MOD.) worn by the U.S. Air Force and finally, the U.S. Navy G1 jacket. The collection will be unveiled via a special event in Tokyo on October 1st, 2010 at BEAMS Shibuya.
The event will conclude on October 11th and then move to Osaka for a showing at BEAMS Shinsaibashi.

Tokio Hotel Covers Vogue L'Uomo October 2010

Twin brothers Bill and Tom Kaulitz of the band Tokio Hotel grace the cover of the October 2010 issue of Vogue L’Uomo.
The 21-year-old superstars are moving from Germany to Los Angeles to be closer to their manager and producer David Jost, so that they can write songs more efficiently, according to a German magazine.

This zip-up leather jacket features a heather grey fleece at the collar and sleeve cuffs with zip detailing at the chest and sleeve cuffs.

Abee iPhone 4 Aluminium Jacket

Japanese company Abee has released their first 100% aluminium case, designed to house the iPhone 4. As such the case has been dubbed “Type 01” and is an ultra thin case, measuring in at just 3mm. Equipped with a seat cushion that has a moderate repulsion soft texture, the case is shock absorbent and is anti-slip. The type 01 is now available in 6 different colors including: black, purple, gold, silver, blue and red.

Billionaire Boys Club Space Beach Wool Boucle Jacket

Forming part of the latest set of Space Beach themed releases, Billionaire Boys Club have today released this wool boucle jacket. The beige edition of the jacket features heavy brown accents and two high front pockets which together with waist belt, should give the jacket an almost tailored shape. Complete with a silky lining, stitching details on the back and a large Space Beach patch on the arm, the jacket has also released in a navy version, which is also available from today at the Ice Cream store in Tokyo.

This Phillip Lim waxed brown leather moto jacket features an asymmetric zip on the front with a belted waist, epaulets, zipper slash pockets, and zip detailing at the cuffs.

Rimowa Vintage Series Luggage

In 1950, Rimowa presented the first-ever corrugated aluminum case, which quickly became the preferred case of the traveling elite, thanks to its lightweight, superior construction. Recreating those styles from yesteryear, the Cologne-based company now present its new vintage series. Limited to a production run of 1,950 pieces, the series is offered in six different sizes—small suitcases to large travel pieces. Each numbered case is made of aircraft aluminum (duraluminium) and lined in a deep blue moiré interior, staying true to the aesthetics of the original versions. The handles are carved from a single block of aluminum, the result of a complicated, painstaking construction process, and the “retro” style locks display the case’s count within the 1,950 piece series stamped into the aluminum.
The vintage series will be available exclusively in Rimowa stores worldwide starting December 2010.

Pointer Benson Factory Visit

The video entails the step-by-step methods at Pointer’s Portuguese shoe factory including various hand-executed steps. The final product is a Benson model created as part of Pointer’s 2010 fall/winter collection, available at select retailers this season.

HARE 2010 Fall/Winter Collection

Japanese brand HARE recently launched this lookbook to exhibit their Fall/Winter collection for this year. Primarily showcased by Dutch model Diederik Van der Lee, the collection is varied, containing both formal and more casual pieces. As one would expect for the time of year the palette is subdued and thicker materials are used. These previews are shot very simply, an excellent choice to allow the brand’s use of layering to retain prominence.

James Long 2011 Spring/Summer Collection

Designer James Long brings out the oil paints and knitting pins for his Spring/Summer 2011 Collection during London Fashion Week. Focusing on the knit trend which is big in menswear for next Spring, over sized silhouettes are complimented with cuffed shorts and rugged boots. Distressed sweaters with intricate cable knitting and large holes, leather biker vests with matching shorts were just a few of the standout looks on display. What sticks out the most in this collection is the designer’s sorbet color palette, which is a mixture of distorted paint splatters and psychedelic prints over garments. To give the collection some sanity, Long added solid jumpers in white and twin knit sets in navy.

Star Style - Adam Levine

Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine stopped by the Late Show with David Letterman to help perform his band’s new single while wearing Persol 2803 sunglasses ($263), which have black frames with a retro design. He was also rocking a pair of black Dr. Martin boots and what appears to be a Burberry leather jacket.

uniform experiment x Stussy Eyewear Fall/Winter 2010

As reported earlier already, uniform experiment has worked with Stussy on some glasses for Fall/Winter 2010. They present the “HF3″ (Hiroshi Fujiwara 3) frame and the “Kiyonaga” frame as part of the collaboration, both releasing September 25th at uniform experiment retailers.
