Catherine Malandrino Ready-To-Wear Collection 2012/New York | Womens wear 2012-13

Catherine Malandrino latest collection Colors were bright and bold with emerald leather blazers, hot pink stand collar shirts, and royal blue wool and patent leather trenches with black fox fur collars. Pointy patent leather heels in orange, red, white, and black provided a color blocked contrast, as did plexi clutches infused with pink, orange, and purple hues. Fur funnels and crystal embossed belts only enhanced the luxury of the supremely feminine collection.

The world’s most expensive retail rents

As a shopping destination, Hong Kong has over the past decade charted a course towards the very high-end in brands — and it seems retailers are now paying a very expensive price for the trend.
With a 46 percent rise in rents, quarter on quarter, Hong Kong is now second only to New York in terms of what tenants pay for retail locations across the city.
Hong Kong last year surpassed Sydney as the second-most expensive city in the world, with the average cost being paid now hitting US$1,687 per square foot per year according to global commercial property company CB Richard Ellis.

New York still tops the charts with rents at US$1,900 but Hong Kong seems intent on closing the gap as the world’s leading brands continue to set up shop all over town.

2011′s most popular cities

London will lead the world in terms of international tourist arrivals this year, according to new research released June 1 by MasterCard.
The new index of Global Destination Cities predicts London will receive 20.1 million inbound passengers in 2011, slightly more than Paris’s 18.1 million.
Bangkok is expected to welcome the third-highest number of visitors, followed by Singapore and Hong Kong — in fact, cities in Asia-Pacific account for eight of the top 20 global destinations.

By contrast, MasterCard predicts that only one US city will be among the world’s most visited this year, with New York taking 12th place and predicted to welcome 7.6 million inbound passengers.
The Big Apple can perhaps take consolation that visitors will spend $20.3 billion there this year, more than every other city save London, which will see cross-border expenditures of $25.6 billion.
As well as studying total arrivals, MasterCard also looked at visitor growth, forecasting that the Spanish city of Barcelona will see the biggest jump — 24.3 percent growth in arrivals this year, followed by Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur at 21.8 percent and Istanbul at 20.4 percent.

Luxury phone maker Gresso introduces its new Luxor World Time, designed specifically for the world traveler.
As you can see from the image above, owners have the ability to bring up the time for six different locations at a time.
This is handled by the six independent Swiss clockwork mechanisms. The company says that the power reserve is clocked at 10 years.
Watch on the back panel of the phone shows time of the five main world business centres: Tokyo, Moscow, Paris, London and New York.

The sixth, and perhaps most important, slot is wherever you want it to be, which can be your home, or where you might be travelling to.
Screen and clock-face with elegant Roman figures located on the back panel are fringed with two 97-carat sapphire crystals with high-gloss coating.
Luxor World Time case is produced from ultrastrong and superlight titanium alloy specially developed for Gresso.

Passarella Death Squad 2010 Fall/Winter Collection

Established in London in 2004 by Danny Broddle and Emilie Albisser, Passarella Death Squad imports fabric from Tokyo and manufactures its garments in both London and Japan. Inspired by one of the 1960s seminal New York band’s, The Velvet Underground the brand’s Fall/Winter collection for this year mirrors concert posters from the 1960’s, with each tee being named after a Velvet Underground track from that period. Each of the tees are available in both black and white colorways from select stockists including: Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Liberty, The End and Kiosk 78 in the UK, Fred Segal Originals in the US and nano universe in Japan.

Directed by Romain Chassaing in promotion of Louis Vuiton’s New York City Guide for 2011, the brand attempt to solve the mystery of New York’s “Big Apple” title. The fashion house explores some of the history of the city and theories on its name, as well as the role of “apples” in New York. Cleverly turning the story into store references and local knowledge, the eclectic piece is short and lighthearted. Expect the complete New York City guide to launch on October 15.

This hand tailored one button dinner jacket features a shawl collar, front flap pockets and back side vents and is made with natural cotton canvas. He finished off the look with black pants and a pair of white Adidas Vintage Rod Laver Sneakers ($75), and you got to love the distressed brown leather tote he is carrying.
